We will not rest until everywhere in the world, in every home, in every school
in every clinic, everyone can wash their hands with clean water. Join our mission
to relate niceness and comfort to washing hands. With less illness as a result

Title: Update for the construction manual "How I make it"

  • New is an update of the Manual "How I make it":
    http://hy2u.org/?q=node/196

This manual contains only text, but now all new details of working are mentioned in it. I want to leave this document printed out for the people over here in Nairobi before I part for Addis Ababa.

As soon as I can manage, I will add each bullet point of text to a picture belonging to it. This will be done similar as the Picture Galleries made from the 'Huruma Women' or the 'Community Health Workers'.

Title: Warming up for this travel blog in Addis Ababa

  • Traveling by Ethiopian Air from Brussels to Addis was just a sleepy affair with good food and nice drinks. Arrival was made nice by being collected by a friend we learned to know the last time in Addis. So there we were ready for a start, Bram who mixed his month long holiday in Ethiopia with reconnaissance for spots to work with the Hy2U, Philipp who spent the same last month learning to make the Hy2U and building the RoadShow stand as part of his Maastricht University internship.

Title: The big constraint is TIME

  • As always during Demotech fieldwork, the big constraint is TIME. The idea is that we can teach in almost no-time. And time and again, I find that this is not the case.

Yesterday late afternoon however there was again such a moment that learning and teaching was so easy. We were at a community center, close to our hotel. Mostly women attended the presentation of the Hy2U. We talked to them in a mix of Amharic and English, fragments of what we said were translated. There was some attention for the video shown on the computer.

Title: Furaha, nururing hope and dreams

  • Demotech sets out for creating expectations. Working with Furaha should now lead to hopes and dreams that come true.

Title: Damage

  • Sorry, we had a problem. It caused this website te be off line for a few days. Damage was caused by doing an update of the Drupal CMS, then at that same moment the server of our website crashed. The result was damage to the database that contains all the info of this website.
Chintu did all the hard dirty work to restore the mess to a working site again. There still is some damage, by and by it will be touched up.
